Representing the interests and voicing the opinions of its members. Promoting the scuba industry as a whole.

Encouraging and promoting a high standard of qualification, competence and knowledge among those active in scuba activities and Underwater Exploration.

Facilitating the exchange and publication of information and ideas on marine environmental science, scuba and health, encouraging research and publishing the results.

Establishing and maintaining appropriate educational and professional standards of membership.

Co-operating with Government Departments and other bodies concerned with statutory and other qualifications, with universities, other educational institutes and authorities in the furtherance of education and training practices and standards.

Making scuba and the exploration of the underwater realms safer and ecologically more sustainable.

Creating a internationally-recognized, standardized method of inspection; and an equally internationally-recognized quality assurance/rating label for the scuba industry.

Promoting unity through the creation of the first DIVE PROFESSIONALS union/association covering the needs of professionals, regardless of their segment of the scuba industry.
